With the music industry growing and dance music making its move into the main stream, there was a void in the area of professional management for new artists, especially where DJ and producers were concerned. Big Management was the first company to tour their DJs through Europe as "DJ Artists". This was the brainchild of Gary Salzman. By having the DJs play their own music, they would develop a following loyal to their sound. Mr. Salzman started this with Tony Humphries and Todd Terry, and continues today with Jason Nevins and Ray Roc. Over the last 16 years, Big Management has evolved into Big Management & Entertainment, a full service music and entertainment company. We have expanded our focus to promotions, A&R consulting, and assisting both independent and major labels with their dance and mainstream projects. SONGWRITER / PRODUCER / ENGINEER

It all started one summer when Michael Grant was eight years old. His mother gave him and his brother an ultimatum: either go to camp or take music lessons. Since a spider at camp had allegedly bitten his cousin he opted for the music lessons.

"I saw myself as a drummer but I was too short to reach the pedals, the store manager introduced me to the accordion (that's right the "squeezebox") and I bit. I thought it looked really cool with all the buttons and stuff."

For the next ten years Michael massaged his accordion prowess eventually winning over 40 awards including 2nd place in a National Accordion Association of America Competition.

Soon the accordion just wasn't cutting it, Grant needed more buttons and knobs to push (plus look a little cooler with the ladies). He decided to branch out to computers and other instruments including the bass guitar, piano and lots of synthesizers.

"I was an eighties keyboard player. That means lots and lots of keyboards. I remember gigging in clubs when I was seventeen surrounded by keyboards, cables and computers."

So that his love for music and computers could be showcased, Grant, his brother and cousin formed the club/hotel "cover" dance band CUE. Like most cover bands, the members longed to perform their own original material so Grant began producing tracks using all those computers and keyboards.

Soon Grants productions caught on with local artists and companies. He found himself needing to branch out from just production. He went to school for audio engineering and worked heavily on developing his song composition skills. It all paid off when he was asked to do one of his favorite projects to date, a CD for Hasbro Inc's. Twister MovesŪ game.

Looking to take his new skills and business to the next level, Grant partnered with his favorite CUE front girl Ari Loren. Together they formed Atavism LLC and in 2000 signed their first album deal with Xtreme Records, a small House label in New Jersey.

Since the Xtreme release Grant has signed with Big Management, NYC. Together with his partner Ari Loren, they are writing songs, producing music and developing other artists.

"It's a great time for Ari and I. We are writing, producing and building our business. Even in spite of all the tragedies that have surrounded us these last few years."

By tragedies Grant is referring to loosing both his parents to cancer within a four-year span.

"Rather than take this time to mourn and sulk about what life isn't doing for me I am pouring that energy into my music.that's what my parents would want me to do, write great songs and produce impactful music for the world to hear."

In fact, Grant can be found writing, producing and still pushing buttons to this day.

Grant and Loren are more than just producer/songwriters. They are also philanthropists.

In 1998 Grant and Loren started GTFT, Inc., a non-profit organization that helps young people learn about the music industry. So far the org has helped more than 600 teens stay off the streets and obtain careers they love. In the future, Grant and Loren look forward to helping teens across the country and around the world.
